On A New Adventure in 2016

It was moving day on the first of January of this year.  My desire for a change led to selling my house in Laguna Beach, packing up and moving across the country to Roanoke,Va. and renovating a large Victorian foursquare home.  With a new studio and new surroundings, I feel motivated to paint and see where this leads to.
My studio is ready to be set up.  I have to organize the painting gear next week.  Outside it is snowing and I am surrounded by
Victorian homes in SW Roanoke.

Feeling Like Fall

It's that time of year, when the persimmons turn a deep orange and hang heavy from the tree.   The turban squashes arrive at the market and the morning glories want to compliment all that Halloween color.
I have to set up a Fall still life and paint some seasonal paintings.

My Flow Blue collection of pitchers look beautiful next to winter squashes and the primitive vase
picks up the yellow in the flowers and the pumpkin.

I love to work with vivid colors, strong blues and violets contrast with the cadmium red and orange.

Painting in Paulette's Garden

Paulette Adams invited me to paint in her gorgeous garden on Saturday.
You can find her adventurous art and design at Summerland Cottage Studio in Laguna Beach,.

We had an overcast morning.
Happily the sun came out in the afternoon and I had fun with this lovely floral arrangement!
Please look for me this summer at the Sawdust Festival in Booth 245!

Getting Ready For the Sawdust Fesitval

UCHIZONO GALLERY
Big Bend is a famous place to paint in Laguna.  They added a Sycamore tree recently. It was a big
change for such a familiar scene, but I like it now.
UCHIZONO GALLERY
I really like this little lotus flower painting.  It's very small and simple.

I am almost finished with this still life.  My obsession with Blue Willow and Flow Blue
pieces continues!

Collection of Floral Paintings

When painting flowers I have to have Old Holland magenta and Old Holland emerald green on hand.
These paints are very rich in  pigment and  their distinct colors add so much to the floral painting.
Some things you just can't mix!   The cost of the paint is extravagant but so worth it.
